Never forget!

We commemorate the Holocaust commemoration day, the day when Russian troops liberated the concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.

We are mourning the dead, we evoke the circumstances under which they died, and we pledge that the like must not happen ever again!

At that time, in 1938, times were hard, unemployment rates were high, employment prospects were low. The invasion of German troops into Austria 1938 was no surprise and longed for by many.

The first waves of fierce antisemitism soon showed their ugly features and even today, so many years after the end of WW2, jewish citizens are unable to live and die according to their belief!

Why does this have to be that way? Is this supposed to be like that forever?

I am a well advanced contemporary, I kindly ask you to promise:

Never again, never forget!
